MELVIN PAYNE started his career in the late 1960s as a singer in The Payne Brothers – composed of Melvin and his two brothers. They performed in the San Francisco Bay Area, appearing on local television shows, “The Jay Payton Show” (channel 20) and “Altogether Now” (KPIX), as well as opening shows for Stevie Wonder, and The Whispers. They recorded a single in 1980 which included the songs “Because It’s You” and “Skate”.
